Ampthill Orchestra is an amateur orchestra which has been formed in Bedfordshire. The idea of this web site is to keep people up to date with our progress, and hopefully to attract new members.

The concept we are working with is that of an adult orchestra formed from musicians in and around Ampthill. There is no ‘catchment area’ as such and players come from nearby Bedford, Milton Keynes and Luton - not to mention all the local towns and villages. It is also hoped that some of the talented young players of the area will also have the opportunity to play, though priority will generally be given to adult players.

Overall we aim to have fun, provide entertainment for the local community by performing concerts and hopefully to raise money for charity. The music we will play will be a mixture of serious classical works and lighter/ popular pieces. See some feedback from the first rehearsal!

Oh, and if you already play for a local orchestra such as the Milton Keynes Sinfonia, Luton Symphony or Bedford Sinfonia and don’t think you’ll have the time, our aim is not to have a large rehearsal commitment so please don’t be put off - get in contact!
