Details for the 27th .....
Hi
there everyone!
Well
it’s not long to go now before the concert, I hope the info
below will answer all your questions about the arrangements for
the day but if not, please let us know!
The date, an obvious one, but just to remind everyone, it’s
Saturday 27th June.
Tickets…
I know some
of you purchased tickets at the last rehearsal, but pls let me know
if you want any and I will keep them aside and hand out at the concert
day afternoon rehearsal in exchange for cheques/cash.
I’m also
happy to send them out if you let me know your address to post them
to.
Remember that
friends of the orchestra get a concession too as well as family,
so I have included previous players on this email who can’t
make this concert – it would be great to see you/have your
audience support!
Adults: £12.50
down to £10.00
Children: £7 down to £6
Family (2 adult and 2 child): £30 down to £25.

I know we have
gone through a lot of potential pieces at the rehearsals, but here
is the final draft of the programme we will be playing:
‘The Magic
Flute‘ Overture – W. A. Mozart
By the Beautiful Blue Danube - Johann Strauss
Peer Gynt - suite no. 1 - Edvard Grieg

Nimrod from the Enigma Variations – Edward Elgar

Rule Britannia‡ - Thomas Arne
Pomp and Circumstance march no. 1 ‡ - Edward Elgar
The Dambusters – Eric Coates
For the fireworks:
1812 Overture
– P. Tchaikovsky
‡ items
with soloist.
For those of
you who have taken music away to rehearse, it would be great if
you can make sure it’s all in order and you have a complete
set. Also, if you need music, let us know and we will see what we
can sort out – I’ll keep a close eye on emails over
the next few days and into the weekend.
Schedule
of events for the day….
First
of all, check out these maps....
The
first one shows where the park is in relation to the town for those
who are not familiar:

and the second is a more blown up picture of where we need to meet.
Head for the area arrowed ‘Artistes Parking’....

This is reserved
for us, and is as close to the backstage area as you can get.
If we can meet
at the Backstage Area for 1.45PM please, that way we can get on
the stage and start setting up the chairs etc for 2PM.
The rehearsal
will be from 2PM to 4PMish, when we will run through the whole set,
practice with Gaynor Keeble, our soloist, and generally acclimatise
to the stage acoustics etc.
The town band
will be rehearsing after us, so we will then have an opportunity
to return to our respective homes and prepare for the evening event.
For those of you travelling from far afield you are welcome to stay
at my house if required, (if you do, let me know by email so I can
try and cater for you!) however we need to be changed and returned
to the Back Stage area for 7.30PM sharp so we can allow for any
final preparations.
I think we
are on between 8PM and 8.30PM, with a 40 minute set. This will take
us through to 9.10PM when there will be an interval for 20 –
30 mins, followed by the final 40 min set finishing up at around
10.15PM.
Dress
Code…
We want to look
the part, so….
Gents: Dinner
Jackets (That’s Black Jacket, White Shirt and Black bow tie)
Ladies: All Black
I am conscious
that this is short notice, so if there is a strong view in the Gents
camp to wear all black, then pls let me know – I personally
feel we should go with the DJ, as we will look more the ‘Proms
part’ and we can always take jackets off after the first piece,
which with a white shirt will be cooler in the lights.
I will check
emails this weekend and if there is a popular consensus for black
shirts then I’ll re-advise on dress code.
And
finally…
I hope we have
covered everything here but if you have any questions, pls do let
us know – Howard is on 07956 405984, and Nikki can be found
on 07725043544
There may be
discrete changes to the plans above, so please can I ask you keep
a close eye on your email over the coming days.
Look forward
to seeing you all on the 27th! Let’s just hope the weather
stays good!
